On August 6, 2019, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Oli Ahmed stated that although the country has achieved independence, the people have not truly gained freedom. He emphasized the need to set aside personal interests and work for the welfare of the people.

He said, “There is no money in the banks, no treatment for dengue patients, and no effective mosquito repellent.”

He urged all to rise above narrow self-interest and unite to save the people and the nation.
